  prop was repitched to 22 so more like a 23. Have a little  
  room to raise and experiment on setup, but not bad for the  
  old girl, optimal rpm is 5300 which I think I will achieve as it  
  is raised a bit. Goal 61-62 mph which is reasonable and   
  within limits of boat and setup. This is a fish and ski model  
  and not a light boat."

  yet, waiting for a calm day. Just installing the jackplate made  
  a world of difference. Hull would not lift prior to installing  
  plate. Once plates was installed and the first 4 water intake  
  holes were plugged to keep water pressure stable, speeds  
  went from 59.2 mph (gps) to 64.3 mph (gps). Boat would  
  actually get on the pad and lift. This is my first Ranger and it  
  will not be my last. Once you go Ranger is there any other!!!"

  getting the rpms in the 5800 range.  The boat had a jackplate  
  but was removed by the former owner and I have yet to   
  replace it.  I took it out for the first time and with full tanks  
  and tackle could only achieve 5200 rpm with three people   
  in the boat.  Does anybody know how many rpms I could  
  gain with a jackplate or do you have any suggestions as to  
  how I could improve the rpms."

  radio. I am thinking about putting a jackplate on. I changed  
  from a Laser II prop to the Shooter to get more lift.  
  I sure would like to get about 200 more rpm though.  
           Updated 11/1....... "November 1...added a 6" CMC manual jackplate last week  
  and it really helped with the rpms. I am up to 5200 rpm now  
  and running about 59 mph on the speedo. That is probably  
  all this 125 Merc is gonna give me.  I'm going to check my   
  speed with a friend's gps this weekend. I really like the   
  performance with the jackplate on.  It added a little more  
  lift and better steering."
